Terrace enclosure – Grand Monarque Hotel & Restaurant, France

Hôtel Le Grand Monarque wanted to offer its guests a space inspired by the grand interior courtyards of Parisian hotels: a bright, vibrant, and welcoming place.
The installation of a tailor-made roof enclosure has made it possible to cover approximately 150 m² of the courtyard, turning it into an area usable all year round, from breakfast to evening service.
Thanks to this discreet and elegant structure, the terrace has become a defining feature of the restaurant, capable of evolving with the atmosphere throughout the day and across the seasons.

The choice of a motorized terrace enclosure allows the restaurant to freely adapt the space according to weather conditions.
In good weather, the telescopic roof opens fully, allowing abundant natural light and pleasant ventilation, recreating the atmosphere of a traditional outdoor terrace.
When the weather becomes unpredictable, the roof enclosure closes quickly to provide effective protection against rain, wind, or cold. The space remains bright, insulated, and comfortable, ensuring guests can be welcomed in the best conditions throughout the year.

Thanks to this flexibility, the inner courtyard has become a stable, high-performance area perfectly suited to the standards of a top-level restaurant.

Covering an outdoor courtyard and transforming it into a year-round usable space requires significant technical precision. The terrace enclosure had to meet strict requirements in terms of waterproofing, insulation, structural strength, and regulatory compliance for public-access establishments.
Rainwater management was also a major challenge, as the space now needed to evacuate water in a controlled and secure way.

The roof enclosure designed by Vénus was created to respect the architecture of the Grand Monarque while adding a perfectly balanced contemporary touch. Its lines, materials, and finishes blend naturally with the character of the hotel, creating a harmonious continuity between the historic and the modern.
Installation was carried out in close collaboration with the hotel’s technical team, ensuring a smooth implementation fully adapted to the constraints of the site.

The inner courtyard quickly became a favourite spot for guests. Its brightness, warm atmosphere, and year-round comfort offer a unique dining experience in the heart of Chartres.
In summer, it embodies the charm of an open-air terrace. In winter, it transforms into a bright, welcoming cocoon where guests happily extend their meals.
For the establishment, this roof enclosure represents a strategic advantage: increased seating capacity, optimized space usage, an enhanced guest experience, and a stronger overall appeal for the hotel.

Management now emphasizes that this space has become a key feature of the restaurant — a true hallmark of the Grand Monarque’s identity.

The structure, made of polycarbonate and powder-coated aluminium, offers exceptional durability and requires very little maintenance. This investment enables the restaurant to operate the terrace all year round, in a stable and profitable way.
The mobile roof ensures precise control of thermal conditions and reduces temperature fluctuations, enhancing guest comfort while supporting optimized energy management.
